City of Stone Mountain Candidates: Diana Roe Hollis

Hollis is concerned about deficit spending by the city.

Municipal elections take place in Stone Mountain on Tuesday, Nov. 5 for mayoral and city council posts.

"It's time to put up or shut up," Diana Roe Hollis stated bluntly when asked why she's challenging incumbent Steve Higgins for City Council Post 5. "We need to get back to basics."

She said the council has been running a deficit for six years, calling it "ridiculous." Hollis objects to the use of funds to "beautify" parts of the city while infrastructure deteriorates elsewhere.

In common with some other candidates, Hollis wants to lower fees for business licenses and says more transparency is needed from the council.

Hollis, whose husband Paul is also running on Tuesday, is a 30-year resident and works in the insurance industry.
