Bed-Ridden Woman Dies in House Fire

A woman died in a house fire in Lithonia on Monday afternoon, DeKalb authorities announced.

“We had people on the outside telling us someone was trapped,” DeKalb's Deputy Chief Norman Augustin said.  

When crews arrived at the house on Timor Trail in Lithonia around 3 p.m. they found flames and smoke, according to several news reports. 

Investigators found that the woman had been confined to a bed and was on oxygen, Augustin said. The cause of the blaze is not yet known.
