Arguing Couple in Car Facing Charges

A woman who complained to police that her boyfriend tried to hit her while she drove was herself arrested on an outstanding warrant.

The incident started when a couple argued while traveling on Hwy. 78 near Stone Mountain on Aug. 4. Tiffany Williams, 27, told police that Marcus Walton, 28, "attempted to slap her and missed due to her moving her head out of the way," according to the incident report. "Ms. Williams stated she began swerving on the roadway due to Mr. Walton grabbing her inside the vehicle."

Williams pulled over and threatened to call 911, but "the suspect took her cell phone and refused to give it back," DeKalb Officer C.J. Whitfield wrote in his report. They both got out of the car and continued fighting until Williams got back in and drove off, leaving her boyfriend and phone behind.

She called police from an address on Mountain Industrial Boulevard who discovered on arrival that she was wanted for a probation violation involving possession of cocaine. Williams was arrested at the scene and taken to DeKalb County Jail. Walton is facing charges of Simple Assault and Theft by Taking.
