Evicted Woman Gets Her House Back For Good

Mildred Garrison-Obi has moved back into her Stone Mountain residence, Occupy Our Homes Atlanta has announced.

A woman who says she was wrongfully evicted from her home will now get to stay there permanently, according to a statement from the Occupy Our Homes Atlanta (OOHA) organization.

Mildred Garrison-Obi was originally forced out of the house off N. Hairston Road in November 2012 for failing to keep up with her mortgage payments due to an injury. On March 18 of this year, in an act of civil disobedience, Garrison-Obi moved back into the house with OOHA's help.

After holding a sit-in at a local Bank of America branch, lenders "called seeking a truce." Garrison-Obi also joined hundreds of other homeowners in distress in Washington D.C. to protest the Department of Justice’s decision not to prosecute the banks, and was arrested for it.
