The veteran and single mother started the moving process yesterday from her Marbut Road home, which has been struck three times since March, WSB reports.
An Iraq War veteran was in the process of moving out of her unincorporated Lithonia home after burglars hit one time too many, the latest on Mother's Day. According to WSB TV, Quintana Ortiz, a single mother of two children, has been burglarized three times since March. Through tears, Ortiz told the news outlet that she decided to move from the home she bought a few years ago in order to protect her chidren. Burglars in the second incident ripped out her alarm; a witness to one burglary, one of Ortiz's neighbors, didn't call police, the report states.

The incident happened on April 6 around midnight, when the parents went to get water and attended a party while the victims were in an unsecured home with little food, according to the incident report.
Three parents were cited for creating a hazardous or offensive condition after leaving several minors alone in a home in unincorporated Lithonia in the early morning hours while they went out to get water and then spent some time at a party, according to a DeKalb county incident report. Police responded to a call April 6 at 12:25 a.m. about children left alone in a house in the 7000 block of Pine Mountain Road. The front door had no knob and could not be secured, the officer states in the report. The home had no flooring --- only a plywood subfloor exposed throughout the house -- an empty freezer, and in the cabinets the officer found "a few old cans of food and nothing appeared fresh" the report states. The man had been in the bar earlier on April 1 and escorted out for "intentionally throwing and breaking a drinking glass on the floor," the DeKalb incident report states.
A DeKalb county police officer working a part-time job at Dudleys Food & Spirits in Lithonia arrested a man who repeatedly shouted and cursed at cops and the bar manager, according to the incident report. On April 1 around 1 a.m. at Dudleys, 6691 Millwood Ln., the officer was talking in the front lot with another officer on patrol when the 41-year-old subject was observed coming up to the front of the bar, "cursing loudly at no one in particular at first" the report states. The man then cut the line, which was set up to control entry to the crowded bar, and walked inside where he was stopped by another off-duty officer and the bar manager.
