Memorial Drive Walmart: The Structure Starts To Take Shape
Workers are now putting up the building that will become the new supercenter.
The land has been cleared of the mini-forest and structures, including three houses and a car dealership building. Now crews are building the structure that will become the 150,000 square foot Walmart at Memorial Drive and N. Hairston Road. Eight weeks ago, heavy machines were busy knocking down the tree-and-brush-filled property, which was also the site of an old Suzuki car dealership. There is still a way to go before the store is complete, a goal for the second quarter of 2013. The store will be similar to, but smaller than, the Walmart at Memorial and Columbia, according to a company spokesman. Walmart says the new store will create 250 full and part-time jobs.
