Update: Police Chiefs Release Statements on Cops Arrested in Corruption Case

Chief Chancey Troutman says officer Denoris Carter is on unpaid administrative leave pending an internal investigation.

  DeKalb's interim police chief Lisa Gassner released a statement today about the county police officers -- one of them, Dorian Williams, is of the Stone Mountain area -- arrested Tuesday in a sweeping corruption case that covered multiple agencies in metro Atlanta. According to the U.S. Attorney's office, the officers are alleged to have taken thousands of dollars in payouts. They have been charged with crimes including assisting with drug trafficking, receiving illegal payouts and using firearms during the commission of a crime. Gassner's statement reads: “It is incomprehensible why these officers chose to aid and abet these criminals when they are sworn to protect our community from such offenders.  These officers do not reflect the …
