Prepare for Friday, Shortest Day of the Year

Friday will be an important day for sky watchers and people holding off on their Christmas shopping. The solstice occurs at 6:12 a.m. Sunrise in Atlanta will be at 7:39 a.m. There will be a Winter Solstice Celebration, which will include a hike and hot drinks (bring your own mug) on Friday, Dec. 21, from 7-10 p.m. at the Arabia Mountain Nature Preserve, 3787 Klondike Rd.
