Carjacking Crew Hits Midtown, Local Walmart Parking Lot, Unsuspecting Good Samaritans

Gun-wielding duo suspected of three armed robberies and shooting one man in the leg last Saturday at the Walmart in unincorporated Stone Mountain.

A series of recent carjackings that spread from Midtown to the downtown connector to unincorporated Stone Mountain resulted in several armed robberies and a non-English speaking man being shot in the back of the leg most likely because he didn’t understand what an armed suspect was saying to him. The crime spree began shortly after midnight this past Friday, Jan. 11, when a female, talking on her phone in a well-lit area on 11th Street, was approached by a man with a gun who quietly robbed her of her phone, purse and personal belongings. A second gunman then appeared and demanded the keys to her 2001 white Honda Accord. Gwinnett PD: Walmart Robbery and Shooting Were Separate Incidents

One man was robbed, another shot in the incidents early Saturday morning at the Rockbridge Road supercenter.

Two separate incidents -- a robbery and a shooting -- happened at the Rockbridge Road Walmart early Saturday morning (Jan. 12) in unincorporated Stone Mountain, Gwinnett County police say. According to GCPD, the first victim arrived at the store in unincorporated Stone Mountain at about 2:50 a.m. After the 20-year-old pulled into a parking space near the main entrance to the store, he walked toward the building and was approached by two black male suspects, police say. One suspect brandished a handgun and demanded the victim’s keys and wallet.  After getting the keys, the suspect went to the victim’s car, a 2010 Honda Fit.
