Three people from Gwinnett and two from DeKalb each face a charge of racketeering, according to criminal warrants.
Five people across metro Atlanta are wanted on racketeering charges in connection with a sales scheme to defraud more than 30 elderly people out of various amounts of money. Two of the suspects in the case, Gidget Williams and Rocky Mitchell, are from Lithonia. Between March 8 and Dec. 9, 2012, investigators with the Governor's Office of Consumer Protection said the suspects made "cold contact" with elderly victims as part of a sales scheme to promote and conduct exterior home cleaning services and repairs. The suspects initially quoted to the victims a price of $59 or $69 to clean gutters, fascia, soffit and siding. The March 7 incident happened at Beauty and Beyond at 1825 Rockbridge Rd.
Thieves smashed the glass door of a beauty supply store to get to the hair extensions. According to the incident report, the responding officer arrived at Beauty & Beyond at 1825 Rockbridge Rd. in unincorporated Stone Mountain in Gwinnett county to find the front door glass completely shattered. The incident happened between 1:30-1:38 a.m. March 7. The officer made these other observations as well: UPON ENTRY I OBSERVED MULTIPLE PACKAGES OF HAIR EXTENSIONS SCATTERED ACROSS THE FLOOR. In the Dec.15 incident, the victim told police the suspect claimed he worked for Best Buy in Lithonia.
A Marietta man told DeKalb County police he's out $4500 for ten iPhones he never received from a person on Craigslist that he met at the Lithonia Best Buy parking lot on Dec. 15. According to the incident report, the victim he replied to an ad on Craigslist posted by a person identifying himself as "Chance" who said he was selling the 64GB phones for $450 each. The suspect told the victim that he worked for Best Buy. They arranged to meet in the parking lot of the store at 2940 Turner Hill Rd. for the transaction. The suspect, wearing a blue polo shirt and khaki pants (possibly a Best Buy uniform, the incident report states) came up to the victim's car and got in.
