Stonecrest Library to Show 'Lincoln'

The free movie will be shown Friday, May 17 and Saturday, May 18.

If you missed seeing 'Lincoln' when it was in theaters (and paying the high ticket and snack prices) you can see it for free at Stonecrest library. The movie, starring Oscar winner Daniel Day-Lewis as the nation's 16th president, will be shown at the library on Friday, May 17, 2-4:30 p.m. and Saturday, May 18, 2-4:30 p.m., for ages 18 and up, according to the library's website. Other cast members include Sally Field (as Mary Todd Lincoln) and Tommy Lee Jones. The movie is rated PG-13. The library is located at 3123 Klondike Rd.

Free Classes Teach Business Start-Up Basics

Upcoming classes at Lithonia library branches will teach participants the basics about starting for-profit and nonprofit endeavors.

  Want to start a business or a nonprofit organization? Libraries in Lithonia are among the DeKalb branches that have free classes to give you the basics and a little more: > The DeKalb County Public Library (DCPL) is working with The Leadership Academy to will hold several classes on getting a business started. The series is called ""The Entrepreneur Endeavor" " and classes will be held at Stonecrest library in Lithonia, 3123 Klondike Rd. "The Journey Projects" at Stonecrest Library Through April 30

An interesting, vivid African costume on display at the library called an Agan helps tell a story.

  Important family moments and individual milesones. Photographs. Words. The Agan, an African costume, helps tell the story by incorporating personal papers, photos and other items on a vintage dress. Through April 30, the Agan will be on display at Stonecrest library, 3123 Klondike Rd. in Lithonia, as part of the "Redressing the Stone: the Lithonia Story - The Journey Projects in Lithonia, GA " exhibition and lecture series "that focuses on history, storytelling and memory through a unique African costume called an Agan," according to information displayed at the library.
