The popular destination will begin unveiling some of its new features March 28.
Last year, Stone Mountain Park unveiled Geyser Towers, a big, splashy, attraction aimed at kids (and kids at heart). This year, the park is introducing the following new features: > The educational "Butterfly Adventures" launches June 1 as part of the park's "Summer at the Rock" experience. The park had two team "fanatics" take their dispute down the tubing hill of the Snow Mountain attraction.
Stone Mountain Park had a bit of fun taking Super Bowl fever to Facebook and Youtube - and down its Snow Mountain attraction. Two team "fanatics" took their rivalry down the snowy hill. Captured on video (attached to this article) and posted on Youtube, the Baltimore Ravens fan came down first. Before Stone Mountain Park took it to the hilltop, it posted this on its Facebook page: Baltimore or San Francisco? We lined up 2 fanatics to settle it on the Snow Mountain tubing hill! A film crew is working at the park, which has welcomed movie projects such as "The Three Stooges" before.
Stone Mountain Park is staying mum, but there's evidence -- and talk -- that a movie project is underway there. "We cannot confirm that," park spokeswoman Jeanine Jones told Patch. She did say a portion of the park, on Robert E. Lee Drive near the east gate, was closed off Wednesday. A person familiar with the film work at the park said it's the movie "Prisoners” and that film crews had created snow in the area that’s closed off. Indeed a layer of the white stuff was seen. There were signs in the park leading crews to the project, a white tent and some smaller trucks at the location, but not a lot of activity, lights or equipment late Wednesday afternoon.
