It's that time of year again: ART Station's "Raising of the Green" fundraiser takes place Sunday, March. 17 at its facility in the city of Stone Mountain. The event takes place from 6-10 p.m. There will be live and silent auctions, a raffle drawing for $1,000, samples from local restaurants, and more. Last year, the fundraiser netted $26,000. News Follow Up: More than $30,000 was raised during the fundraiser "Raising of the Green" on March 17 -- the goal was $28,000 -- with a net profit of $26,000, said ART Station's Michael Hidalgo, co-founder, associate producer and director of development, through e-mail correspondence. Hidalgo said the biggest success of the event was "the true local community support that rallied to make the live and silent auctions a success." Most of the money raised comes from the auctions, not ticket sales or raffles, he said.

Everybody was Irish at the 16th annual Raising of the Green fundraiser and St. Patrick's Day celebration at ART Station Saturday night. The "Raising of the Green at ART Station is not just a time for green beer, local restaurant fare, auctions and a raffle. One of ART Station's founders, associate producer and director of development Michael Hidalgo, said the success of this year's "Raising of the Green" is of top importance, given how tough the economy has been; foundations and others simply haven't been able to give as much as in the past.
