Miller Grove H.S. Student Wins Honorable Mention for Documentary

Samuel Gladden entered C-Span's annual video documentary competition.

  Miller Grove High School tenth-grade student Samuel Gladden will receive $250 for his Honorable Mention documentary, “Education: The Greatest Common Factor," entered in C-Span's national 2013 StudentCam competition. According to the press release from C-Span, middle school and high school students are invited to produce a five- to- eight minute documentary on a national policy issue in the annual competition, which has been around for nine years. In this year's competition, students were asked to answer this question: “What’s the most important issue the president should consider in 2013?” C-SPAN received 1,893 videos from more than 3,500 students across the U.S and Washington, DC., according to the release.

Sprinkler Creates Mess Near Miller Grove High School Entryway

A clean-up crew took care of the spill.

One of the sprinklers at Miller Grove High School created a liquidy mess near the main entryway for several minutes Wednesday afternoon, followed by a diligent clean-up crew that took care of it. I had just come through the door for the signing day event as students and staff were clearing the area. -Leslie Johnson

Miller Grove, MLK Jr. High Schools to Get Renovations, Additions

Miller Grove will get a two-story classroom addition and renovations; MLK Jr.'s construction projects will include a new ninth-grade wing.

Classroom renovations and additions are planned for two high schools in Lithonia. There was a groundbreaking ceremony today at 10 a.m. for a two-story classroom addition and renovations to common classrooms at Miller Grove High School, 2645 DeKalb Medical Parkway, Lithonia. The $6 million project is targeted for completion in September 2014, according to a DeKalb County School District spokeswoman. On Wednesday, Dec. 12, a groundbreaking will take place at Martin Luther King Jr. High, on a new ninth-grade wing, new, administrative area and new common classrooms. DeKalb Schools Basketball: SW DeKalb, Miller Grove Battle for Class AAAA Titles

SW DeKalb, Miller Grove hog Class AAAA spotlight in title games

The Class AAAA High School Basketball Championships feature an all-DeKalb matchup as Southwest DeKalb takes on Miller Grove in both the girls’ and boys’ title games on Friday, March 9 at The Arena at Gwinnett Center. In what is believed to be a first in GHSA Tournament history, one county has all the representatives in the two championship games of one classification. The girls’ game set for a 3 p.m. tipoff features the No. 4 ranked Miller Grove Lady Wolverines (24-4) taking on the unranked Southwest DeKalb Lady Panthers (21-11) in the first all-DeKalb matchup of the Class AAAA finals. The two teams split their regular season games in Region 6-AAAA play as Southwest DeKalb won the first meeting 43-31 and Miller Grove returned the favor in …
