17 Local Students Nominated for Governor's Honors Program

DeKalb County Schools nominated 143 students in all.

Of the 143 students from 16 high schools nominated by the DeKalb County School District for the Georgia Governor's Honors Program (GHP), 17 students come from five schools in Stone Mountain and Lithonia. The Georgia Department of Education program, described as a residential summer program for gifted and talented high school juniors and seniors, takes place at Valdosta State University. The local students nominated are: From Arabia Mountain High School in Lithonia - From Martin L. King Jr. High School in Lithonia - From Miller Grove High School in Lithonia - From Redan High School in Stone Mountain - From Stephenson High School - The four-week GHP goes into its 50th summer in 2013, so it is longest continually running program of its kind …
