Not just another hump day: It's the 222nd day of the year.

Welcome to Wednesday, the 222nd day of the year. That's got to be lucky, right? Here are some things to know as you head into the day. The weather: Sunshine, with a high of about 93 degrees. The low tonight will be about 72.  Georgia Military College: Classes started Monday at the GMC Stone Mountain extension in the village, and today is the last day to register for this term. There's no tuition this term for 2011 high school grads who apply for state and federal aid, even if they don't qualify for the aid. 45 days until autumn: It's time to think about planting fall veggies, anything from (more) cucumbers and yellow squash to greens and beans. Check the August gardening calendar from the University of Georgia Extension. Georgia Military College to Open in Stone Mountain Tuesday

GMC in downtown Stone Mountain will have a core curriculum and is offering free tuition for 2011 high school graduations for the first fall quarter.

Stone Mountain is becoming a college town: Georgia Military College will open an extension downtown tomorrow and begin offering classes next month. The extension at 5325 Manor Drive, in the renovated annex next to the Sue Kellogg Library, will offer core classes required for a two-year degree, according to the extension center director, Janis Anderson. More courses will be offered as the college expands, she said. "The plan is to grow so we can move out of that building" and into something bigger, but still in Stone Mountain, Anderson said.  Georgia Military College is a two-year, accredited liberal arts college, founded in 1879. College to Open in Stone Mountain

Georgia Military College is adding a campus in downtown Stone Mountain and plans to open in August.

Downtown Stone Mountain is getting its own college, with classes starting August 8.  Georgia Military College, a liberal arts and junior college that originated in Milledgeville in 1879, is expanding by taking over the City Hall annex building next to the Sue Kellogg Library. Starting in August, classes will be offered to civilians, active military and veterans.  Back in August, City Manager Barry Amos and Mayor Patricia Wheeler took a tour of the Fairburn GMC campus, and the idea of expanding the school in Stone Mountain popped up.   "It's an honor that they want us in Stone Mountain," said Campus Coordinator Janis Anderson.
