Report: New Birth Bishop Eddie Long Sued
An article on AJC.com says 12 former members have named Long, the church and an investor in the lawsuit over an alleged Ponzi scheme.
According to an article on AJC.com, former members of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia have filed a lawsuit against Bishop Eddie Long for urging them to put money into a company in which they say they lost in excess of $1 million. The investor who held financial seminars at the church, Ephren Taylor, and the church are also named in the suit, the article states. According to AJC.com report, the Securities and Exchange Commission also has a civil case pending against Taylor. The story says Taylor has not been criminally charged. The article reports that a church spokesman, in a statement, said Long hopes Taylor and companies "related to him" give back the funds taken from those at New Birth and elsewhere.
