Painter at Crowe's Crossing Robbed of $75 at Gunpoint

Suspects also took keys and victim's passport in April 19 incident.

Each week, Stone Mountain-Redan Patch takes a closer look at recent crime reports. A man who was painting the curbside in back of 1234 S. Hairston, Suite 28 in unincorporated Stone Mountain was robbed at gunpoint last week, according to a DeKalb County police report. The incident happened at Crowe's Crossing retail center, anchored by Kroger, in back of the former Washington Mutual location, which is vacant. The man told police four unknown black males walked up to him from the rear around 12 p.m. April 19.  One suspect had a small black handgun and placed it to the left of the victim's head, according to the report. The victim told police the suspect said, "Don't look at us and give it up." The suspects took $75 in cash, vehicle keys, …

Welcome to the Neighborhood: WhaTheHair, Clothesline Art, Next Level Men's Fashion

Recently-opened businesses in the Stone Mountain and Redan areas.

WhaTheHair Kali and Hudson Dempaire had a salon, Dempaire Design Studio, on Memorial Drive for 12 years. Now the Dempaires have a new place at Crowe's Crossing Retail Center called WhaTheHair. The salon opened for business earlier in November and the Dempaires plan a grand opening in February. "The energy is different over here," Kali Dempaire said. It's the kind that "keeps you vibrant and motivated." Clients are coming to the new location, and have even helped out with the renovations, she said. "Clients have been very supportive," she said. Next Level Men's Fashion: Logan Stewart has recently opened Next Level By Logan Men's Fashion, also in Crowe's Crossing Retail Center. Crowe's Crossing Retail Center Sold to REIT for $7.5 million

Shopping strip on S. Hairston and Redan Road includes Kroger.

The Lightstone Value Plus Real Estate Investment Trust, Inc. (LVPR) announced today that it has acquired Crowe’s Crossing Retail Center, which is anchored by Kroger, for $7.5 million. The purchase is LVPR's second Kroger-anchored purchase in the Atlanta area within a year; it also acquired Everson Pointe Shopping Center, an 81,428-square-foot, Kroger anchored shopping center in Snellville, LVPR said. A 93,728-square-foot shopping center at the corner of S. Hairston and Redan roads, bought the property from Torchlight Investors. The acquisition was financed using non-recourse CMBS debt.
