Stone Mountain Chick-Fil-A operators say Wednesday's show of appreciation of the restaurant chain, whose CEO is under fire for recent comments about same-sex marriage, kept them busy. How will Friday's National Same-Sex Kiss Day at Chick-fil-A fare?
Operators of several Chick-fil-A restaurants in metro Atlanta, including the two with Stone Mountain addresses, say Wednesday’s Appreciation Day was a hit. Supporters of the chain and its CEO, Dan Cathy, who has recently come under fire for comments against same sex marriage, kept the restaurants very busy Wednesday, helping to create a "record-setting day" said the restaurant operator on Memorial Drive. Gay marriage proponents have named tomorrow, Friday, Aug. 3, National Same-Sex Kiss Day at Chick-fil-A. On Wednesday, Chick-fil-A supporters across the nation will visit the chain to show their solidarity; on Friday, a National Same-Sex Kiss Day is planned at the same chain.
Mike Huckabee, former Arkansas governor and presidential candidate, has called for a "Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day" today, Aug. 1. A Facebook page created by Huckabee says that he is "incensed at the vitriolic assaults on the Chick Fil-A company because the CEO, Dan Cathy, made comments recently in which he affirmed his view that the Biblical view of marriage should be upheld." He stipulates that no one is being asked to carry signs, make speeches or openly demonstrate; rather, they are asked to simply show up and eat. As of Tuesday evening, 534,427 RSVP'd "yes" and 56,820 RSVP's "maybe." There are two Chick-fil-A restaurants in Stone Mountain: 5075 Stone Mountain Highway and 5542 Memorial Drive. There is also the Wesley Chapel …

Have you ever boycotted a business because you disagreed with its politics?
Chick-fil-A is known for a lot of things – the chicken nuggets and waffle fries, the friendly and efficient staff, the cow statues hanging off billboards and urging people to ‘eat mor chikin.’ The opening of a new store can draw crowds of people willing to camp out overnight for the chance to win a free year of food. The restaurants are popular places for school fundraisers. And many people look forward to the promotional days that offer free food to those willing to dress up like the cow mascots. But in recent days, the Georgia-based fast food chain has been catching flak for president Dan Cathy’s statements against same sex marriage. In East Atlanta, the owners of Urban Cannibals Bodega + Bites _ Chef Calavino Donati and her wife, …
