Floyd is an adult cat available for adoption through Atlanta Animal Rescue Friends. Visit the AARF website at aarfatlanta.org for more information about Floyd and other cats and dogs available for adoption.
Hi! My name is Floyd and I am one handsome, black cat. I'm not all looks, though, I also have a fantastic personality. I love to be showered with attention and affection. I also enjoy playing with feathers, chasing jingle balls and batting around toy mice. It's hard to believe that someone just dumped me at a shelter, but that's what happened. I was bummed at first, but it's not so bad now that I live at Camp Kitty. It's a great place for a people-loving cat such as myself because humans always come in and pet me. An even greater place would be a forever home, preferably with me as the only cat, with a human I can call my own. If you adopt me I guarantee that you won't be disappointed. I'm current on my vaccinations, neutered, microchipped…

Roman is available for adoption through Atlanta Animal Rescue Friends. He is neutered and up to date on his vaccinations.
Hello everyone! I'm Roman, a handsome, blue-eyed, flame point Siamese mix. I was recently rescued from the county shelter after living there for over four months. I'm now living at Camp Kitty, which is way better than animal control, but I'm not too fond of the other cats here. To be honest, I seriously dislike them. The perfect home for me would be one without any other felines. I give so much love that you wouldn't need anyone else! I enjoy cuddling, rolling around with a catnip-filled toy, pouncing on feathers and indulging in a bowl of yummy wet food. If you're looking for a sweet companion with a soft coat then I'm your cat! I'm neutered, current on my vaccinations, and FeLV/FIV negative. To adopt Roman, fill out an adoption …

If awards were given for "cats who give the best performance acting like puppies," Cassie and DeSoto would win, paws down.
They're both a little clumsy, especially for cats. They both come running when they see you and one or the other might hurl themselves into your arms. They are friendly, they are cuddly and they never seem to meet a stranger. Cassie and DeSoto, sibling cats who reside in LifeLine Animal Project's no-kill Kitty Motel, almost seem to be two puppies living in the bodies of two sibling cats. They are waiting for adoption. They approach every person who visits them as a potential pet parent, running to meet visitors and, given a chance, climbing on their shoulder and riding around. The friendly twosome came to LifeLine as kittens when they were picked up by DeKalb County Animal Control. They were about 6 weeks old, sick and living on the …

As sure as the pollen and warm weather signals the coming of spring and summer, it also signals the coming of the pitterpatter of little cat's feet. Hundreds of them.
Every year in the metro area, just as teachers and children are starting to look forward to the end of the school year and area gardeners are looking toward planting their spring plot, an explosion happens. It's a population explosion and it brings with it hundreds of kittens born to unspayed females cats in the area. Animal rescuers and shelter personnel refer to it as "Kitten Season" and they wish fervently it wouldn't happen. Although most shelters are full year around, at Easter every year abandoned kittens start pouring through their doors, stretching their resources and staffs to the limit. The constant influx doesn't slow down until well into the fall. An un-fixed female cat will go into heat at 6 months old and can have two-three …

Foster homes are an important link for homeless pets between an often sorrowful past and a brighter future.
Of the many ways to help your local animal rescue group, fostering a dog or cat in your home is one of the more difficult but also one of the most rewarding. Opening your home to a homeless pet means that temporarily – for a period of days, weeks or months – you are in the position of being a pet parent to a dog or cat who often has no where else to go. The responsibility of being a temporary pet owner can be as extensive as caring for an animal who is recovering from health issues or just sharing your space and time with a box of abandoned kittens who need room to grow. “I enjoyed it,” said Jean Williams, who regularly fostered dogs in her native North Carolina before moving to Decatur earlier this year. “I liked to travel and didn’t want…

Bob has done what many humans could not do. He has remained sociable and loving despite having his throat cut by strangers and being dealt tough breaks in the urban wild. Is there a happy ending for big-hearted Bob?
Cats have reputations as mysterious creatures with mercurial whims. They are often seen as the independent, take-me-as-I-am-or-leave-me-alone rebel of the domestic animal world. They were worshipped as gods by ancient Egyptians (cat owners joke that the feline has never forgotten this) and further legends state that they are filled with curiosity and can afford to take risks, because, unlike the rest of us mere mortals, they have nine lives. In our modern world the reality is that cats who are abandoned or are born feral live a life that is fraught with danger and most do not enjoy a normal life-span. They are at the mercy of weather, traffic, starvation, disease, other animals and people who might wish to do them harm. If cats do indeed …
