New MARTA Bus Q Routes Offer a Quicker Ride

The traffic is always better for MARTA Q routes 520 and 521 along Memorial Drive. If it seems there's always a chance to pass stopped cars, and green lights appear to be more frequent, it's because both are part of the new fast services.

The traffic is always better for MARTA Q routes 520 and 521 along Memorial Drive; it seems there's always a chance to pass slow cars and green lights appear to be more frequent. That's because it's set up that way.  The new speedy bus routes, with special passing rights and lights programmed in their favor, essentially bring hubs in Tucker and Stone Mountain within 25 minutes of Kensington Station. The 521 Q Express route is MARTA's first express service, a concept familiar in many other cities: a long trip with only a few stops.  The Kensington to Stone Mountain service terminates at a park-and-ride lot at Goldsmith Road.  That's five miles with stops only at North Hairston Road and Georgia Perimeter College.
