Am Atlanta man who answered a Craig's List ad for an iPhone ended up getting robbed of his own. The victim told DeKalb county police he responded to the ad for the iPhone 5, which was being sold for $500. On May 6 he agreed to meet the person who placed the ad (the suspect), at the Kroger store, 1232 S. Hairston Rd. But the suspect told the man to meet him instead in the 4700 block of Fieldgreen Dr. The suspect was standing outside on the street when the victim came to the location, the report states. Detectives believe the man may be responsible for several business robberies in DeKalb.
The DeKalb County Police Department, based in Tucker, is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a man suspected of robbing two businesses this week. According a a press release, the suspect entered the Family Dollar store located at 3590 Panola Road on May 1 at approximately 11:30 a.m. The man was armed with a weapon and demanded money from the cash register. He then fled the location with an undisclosed amount of cash. The same person is believed to have entered a second business, Dollar General, 2566 Wesley Chapel Road, about 15 minutes later and robbed the location of cash. The incident took place at the O'Reilly Auto Parts parking lot on N. Hairston, according to the DeKalb county incident report.
A man told DeKalb County police that he was robbed at knifepoint of his wallet and other belongings in the parking lot of the O'Reilly Auto Parts store on N. Hairston Rd. in unincorporated Stone Mountain (the incident report lists the address as 956 N. Hairston, but the address is 921 N. Hairston). The incident occurred Jan. 23 at 7:10 p.m. The victim was standing in the parking lot when the suspect approached him. Gwinnett County Police are looking for two suspects who shot a man and robbed another outside the Walmart at 1825 Rockbridge Road this morning (Saturday, Jan. 12) around 2:50 a.m. The suspects, both black males, were armed with a semi-automatic handgun, possibly a .40 calibre Glock, according to a police statement. They approached two separate shoppers in the parking lot of the store, shooting one, a 35-year-old male, in the leg when "he did not understand their demands and continued to walk towards the store," the report said. The other victim, a 20-year-old-male, handed over his keys, wallet and cell phone. The suspects took his car and left the scene. An armed suspect fired a shot as he robbed a woman getting out of her vehicle in unincorporated Stone Mountain on Dec. 9 according to a DeKalb County incident report. The incident occurred in the 2500 block of Treehills Parkway, at the Reserve at Stonecreek Apartments where the victim lives. She told police as she was getting out of her car an unknown black male put his foot in the door and pointed a gun at her face, around 2:25 a.m. The suspect told her to to give him everything she had, then fired the gun into her car one time, close to her face, she said. An armed suspect robbed the Kroger grocery store at 1232 S. Hairston Rd. one early morning last week, according to a DeKalb County incident report. In the Dec. 6 incident, which occurred just before 3 a.m., a cashier told police that the suspect walked into the store and placed a silver handgun near her side, then said, "Open the register." The cashier said she was forced at gunpoint to open three registers and was not sure how much the suspect stole, the report states. She was not injured. A U.S. District judge has sentenced a father from Conyers and his son, who is from the Stone Mountain area, this week to federal prison on several charges including armed commercial robbery, attempted bank robbery, and using and carrying firearms during crimes of violence, U.S. Attorney's office for the Northen District of Georgia said in a press release. A Massachusetts man told DeKalb County police his friend helped an armed man rob him at a Tucker motel on Sunday, Oct. 28. The 25-year-old victim said he was in his room at the Motel 6 at 2810 Lawrenceville Highway when his friend – a Lithonia man – and an unknown suspect knocked on the front door shortly after 5 p.m., the police report said. A Covington Highway Subway employee who lives in unincorporated Stone Mountain witnessed an armed robbery at the restaurant last week, according to the DeKalb County police report. Another worker, who was behind the counter, told police that a man came into the Subway at 6116 Covington Highway in Lithonia around 9:18 p.m. July 31. After she asked to take the man's order, she said he "just stood there for a few seconds" before pulling out a hand gun, the report says. The other employee was mopping the floor. A DeKalb police officer met with the victim of a reported armed robbery the night of May 11 in unincorporated Stone Mountain.
