Weekly Adoptables: Phoebe Is Ready and Waiting

Phoebe comes with a $250 Training Package for whoever adopts her.

Hi, my name is Phoebe. I’m a very sweet Lab/Terrier mix. I know everyone says they’re sweet, but it’s true about me, ask the shelter volunteers! I have a great personality; I’m very cuddly and loving. I would love to be your walking or jogging companion or to snuggle on the sofa and watch movies with you on a rainy afternoon. I attend Charm School; that’s the training the shelter has to help us learn good manners. I’m very charming; just look at me in my cute little dress. I have learned to Sit, to Look at you or to Touch your hand on command. I’m learning to walk nicely on a leash; they say I’m learning very quickly. If you adopt me you can help me learn even more good things. The nice people at the shelter want to make sure that I …

Weekly Adoptables: Johnny Cash

Johnny and dogs just like him are available for adoption from DeKalb Animal Services.

Johnny Cash is an adult Beagle. He’s about five years old so he is passed the puppy and the juvenile stage; no chewing of shoes for him.  Johnny is calm and cuddly. He’s a sweet, gentle little fellow who is always happy to see you. You can see the smile on his face. He really needs to find a loving home because he’s in need of heartworm treatment.  If you can open your heart and home to this little sweetie and if you are willing to treat his heartworms; his adoption fee will be waived. You will have a great, healthy and happy pet. Johnny Cash will have a furever home. What a wonderful tradeoff! Johnny weighs only 40 lbs so he won’t take up much room if you want to let him snuggle in bed with you. Please come to visit Johnny and spend some …

Weekly Adoptables: Meet Samantha

Samantha is vaccinated, spayed, and heartworm negative.

Samantha is an adult Labrador Retriever mix. She has been attending Charm School and is learning very quickly. She knows how to Sit and how to Touch with her nose on command. She also knows her name.  She is still learning to walk like a lady when on leash. Samantha, like most  Labradors, likes to play and run and has plenty of energy. You can imagine how being kept in a cage all day, except for 20 – 30 minutes, affects her. She is exuberant when she first gets out. Samantha is medium size so she can fit in any home; she weighs approximately 45 lbs. She has been at the shelter too long; even one day is too long for a loving pet looking for a home. Samantha would like a person of her own with whom she could run and play.  She is sponsored …

Local Motorcycle Club: Tough Guys with Big Hearts

Stone Mountain Windwalkers, a local motorcycle club, is doing good things for foster kids.

The Windwalkers Stone Mountain, a local motorcycle club, has quite a caring disposition when it comes to the foster children of Stone Mountain. The club organizes fundraisers for Community Connections, a local nonprofit child placement agency, to provide toys and clothing for the children at Christmas. This is the second year that WWMC, Stone Mountain chapter, has put on a turkey shoot to fund the holiday wish list for the children. "This year alone we raised $1,300, not too bad considering the club is only one year old," said member Danny Stallings. Stallings coordinates the event and works directly with Community Connections of Stone Mountain. The wives of the club members get together and go shopping to fill the list that's provided for…
