Weekender: Breaking Records, New Arts Festival, Thrifty Shopping

What's up this weekend around the area.

A Smart Lunch, Smart Kid summer kick-off event this weekend will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for making the most sandwiches in one hour. Saturday, June 29 from 9 a.m. to noon at Sam's Club in Lithonia, 2994 Turner Hill Road. “If you can put a sandwich together, we need your help,” said Rachel Ruckart, lead local coordinator.

The Stone Mountain Thrift Store Celebration, hosted by the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, is from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. on June 29 and includes a variety of family activities and food. Patrons get a 20 percent discount on designated merchandise until closing. 4871 Memorial Drive, Stone Mountain.

The BusiNeighbor Community Yard Sale is happening on Saturday, June 29 from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. at 5915 Lawrenceville Highway in Tucker. There will be "bouncers for the children, popcorn, hotdogs, nachos, awesome bargains, etc."

The Inaugural Old Fourth Ward Park Arts Festival is a brand new weekend festival, with 200 arts and crafts vendors offering all mediums including painting, sculpture, photography, jewelry, woodwork and more. June 29-30 at Historic Fourth Ward Park, just off North Avenue in Atlanta, across from the Ponce City Market.
