This weekend, the annual Music Midtown Festival returns to Piedmont Park welcoming some of music’s biggest artists! Midtown Patch has been provided some quick pointers below to help navigate through the weekend and to insure a memorable 2013 Music Midtown experience, both inside and outside the gates.

THIRD STAGE:

This year features the addition of a third stage, The Roxy, located in Oak Hill near the festival entrance on 10th Street. 

FESTIVAL GATES:    

There are three gates entrances into the festival grounds:

  • The Charles Allen Gate “main gate” is located at the corner of 10th Street and Charles Allen Drive

  • The Park Drive Gate is available to attendees coming from Monroe and Park Drives.

  • The Lake Side Gate is accessible at the 12th and 14th street entrances into Piedmont Park (Patrons can enter the park at the base of Oak Hill near the lake).

BOX OFFICE:

Onsite ticket sales begin on Friday at 1:00 p.m. and Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at event entrances. The gates will open on Friday at 4:00 p.m. and Saturday at noon. .

FESTIVAL CUISINE:    

Music Midtown offers a wide array of food and beverages prepared onsite for your enjoyment including some of Atlanta’s great restaurants: Bhojanic, Williamson Brothers BBQ, Publik Draft House, Nectar Food Truck and more! Beverage stations, street trucks and other festival food favorites will be throughout the site including vegetarian and gluten-free options. New menus and food trucks have been added in both SUPER VIP and VIP areas.

ARTIST MARKET:

Besides the big musical draw, Music Midtown is about the local community. Here you will be able to load up on artist merch, meet your favorite DJ on radio row, enjoy a local artisan’s wares or stop by a sponsor booth for sampling, swag and more.

NEIGHBORS:

We love our festival neighbors. We are moving in for the weekend and want them to feel the same about us. PLEASE be respectful of them and their property at all times during the festival.

STREET CLOSURES:       

There will be various street closures throughout the festival (patrons can use the Music Midtown Mobile App for festival news).

  • Wednesday, Sept. 18 from 6:00 a.m. through Friday, Sept. 20 at 9:30 a.m., one lane on 10th Street from Charles Allen Drive to Piedmont Avenue (closest to Piedmont Park) will be closed.

  • Beginning on Friday, Sept. 20 at 9:30 a.m., the two west-bound lanes (closest to Piedmont Park) will be closed.

  • On Friday, Sept. 20, 10th Street between Piedmont Avenue and Monroe Drive will be closed until Monday, Sept. 23 at 4:00 a.m.

  • Sunday, Sept. 22, 10th Street between Charles Allen Drive and Monroe Drive will be closed until 4:00 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 23 for festival load-out

To draw more attention to these road closures, there will be electronic messages on 10th Street, 14th Street and Monroe Drive.

ITEMS ALLOWED:    

One factory-sealed bottle of water or one empty reusable water bottle that can be filled for free at any of our hydration stations located throughout the festival grounds. Non-professional recording point and shoot photography equipment and towels and blankets.

ITEMS NOT ALLOWED:       

For the convenience and safety of all concert attendees, the following items are not permitted on the festival grounds during Music Midtown – Chairs, musical instruments, laser pointers, walkie-talkies, coolers, grills, picnic baskets, outside food and drink, professional camera equipment and recording devices, cameras with detachable lenses or video capabilities, roller skates/blades, bikes, scooters, skateboards, pets (except for service dogs), weapons of any kind, fireworks or explosives of any kind,

illegal or illicit substances of any kind (paraphernalia), bags larger than 16" x  16" x 8" (permitted bags subject to search), glass containers, metal aerosol cans including sunscreen, carts, tents, unauthorized/ unlicensed vendors or unauthorized solicitations, handbills, sampling, giveaways etc.

Outside alcoholic beverages are not allowed in the festival due to the Fulton County and Atlanta City ordinances. Alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase onsite.

SMOKING:    

Smoking onsite is NOT permitted as per Atlanta’s smoking ban in public parks in accordance with the Georgia Smokefree Air Act of 2005, here is the link to the ordinance put into action earlier this year. "Pursuant to O.C.G.A. § 31-12A-7 and O.C.G.A.  § 31-12A-8 smoking is prohibiting on park grounds."

PETS:        

We love pets… But, we ask you to leave your pets at home. This is not only for the convenience of our patrons, but also for the well-being of your pets.
