Week Ahead: Meet Candidates, Trunk or Treat, Career Fair, and More

A look at some of what's going on in town.

There will be a meet-and-greet event in Stone Mountain for candidates who are running for mayor and city council; Tuesday Oct. 29 from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Stone Mountain Woman's Club, 5513 East Mountain Street. 

State Representative Dee Dawkins-Haigler (D-Lithonia), in partnership with the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Stone Mountain-Lithonia Alumnae Chapter, will host a Youth Town Hall meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 29 from 6 -8:30 p.m. at the Rockdale Career Academy Auditorium. Smoke Rise Baptist Church is holding an Octoberfest on Wednesday, Oct. 30 from 5 to 7 p.m. on the ball field. "A complete night or outdoor fun for all ages. Activities are free, and all are welcome." Wear costumes! Dinner will be $3 per child, $5 per adult, $15 maximum per family. 

Local business owners and the city of Lithonia are hosting Trunk or Treat on Main Street, a fun and safe alternative to Trick or Treating. "No need to go to random neighborhoods or the mall to be disappointed that people are not participating." Oct. 31.

Kingdom Culture Ministries will host a Career and Health Fair on Friday, Nov.1 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Action Sports Academy, 5639 Memorial Drive, Stone Mountain. "Businesses from across the Metro Atlanta area will have representatives available to speak to job seekers concerning their current and future hiring needs."
