Smoke Rise Considers Cityhood Implications

This week's public meeting will address the impact on Smoke Rise of cityhood efforts by Tucker and Stone Mountain.

From the Smoke Rise Community Association

We hope you'll join us this Thursday, Jan. 16 at 7 p.m. at Smoke Rise Baptist Church Fellowship Hall for SRCA's Cityhood meeting.

Smoke Rise is projected within the confines of the potential city limits of both Tucker and Stone Mountain - currently we are in unincorporated DeKalb County with no city affiliation. The state legislature and DeKalb delegation are already discussing our fate and it's up to us to decide what our ultimate alliance should be.

The vote is coming soon.

Presentations will be made by Tucker 2014 and the City of Stone Mountain. Both have completed feasibility studies that show that they could operate successfully and within budget with the addition of our territory. This is an important meeting as it impacts your property value, taxes, and governance. Bring your questions and opinions. This is a crucial topic for our community and a meeting you shouldn't miss. Something is going to happen and you owe it to yourself and your neighbors to make an informed decision.
