Monday Essentials: Cop Recruiting, Garden Training, Music Educating

Five things going on in the week ahead.

The DeKalb County Police Department will host a recruitment fair on Wednesday, Sept. 4 from 4 to 8 p.m. at its headquarters in Tucker. Representatives from various agency units will discuss career opportunities with potential applicants. 1950 West Exchange Place. For additional information contact the Background and Recruiting Unit at 770-724-7445.

The first of three application sessions for the 2014 Master Gardener Training Class is on Wednesday, Sept. 4, 9:30 a.m. at 4380 Memorial Drive, Decatur.

Atlanta Music Education invites you to tour the studios, meet teachers, see children's art and play at the musical petting zoo. Thursday, Sept. 5, 4-8 p.m. 

"Each year we host a semi-annual consignment saleheld in the Family Life Center at Mountain Park UMC. We carry clothing ranging in size from preemie to size 16, junior & young men’s clothing, plus toys, baby equipment, maternity clothes, and any type of child related item." Friday, Sept 6, 9 a.m.

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, a non-profit based in Stone Mountain supporting area food pantries, will participate in the next Great Shredder Event, collecting food, clothing and monetary donations. Here is a list of items they will accept. They will also raffle off Falcons tickets. Saturday, Sept. 7 from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Turner Field in the blue parking lot
