The following are several organizations' needs for volunteers and donations. The groups listed are in Stone Mountain and in areas nearby.

Math Tutors: Math is My Friend needs math tutors for the new school year. This opportunity could be especially good for teens wanting to give back, according to .

The tutors are needed during the school year, Monday through Thursday, 4-6 p.m., and as needed on Saturdays and Sundays. The address is 4703 Redan Rd., 30083.

Dog Days of Summer Pet Adoption Event: DeKalb County Animal Services needs volunteers to print and distribute flyers for its Dog Days of Summer Adoption Event on Saturday, July 21. Go to DeKalb Animal Services' website for a PDF version. 

Visit DeKalb County Animal Services' Facebook page and leave a comment on the post about needing volunteers (it appeared on Monday) about whether you can help and where you'll distribute the flyers.

Help at Therapy Center: Parkwood Farms Therapy Center in Snellville needs a program manager and a volunteer coordinator.

For the program manager volunteer position, you have horse experience, and tasks include program development, rider evaluations, lesson planning, overseeing session, summer camp, and increasing numbers of riders and more.

Among the duties for the volunteer coordinator are recruiting, scheduling, logging and verifying volunteer hours, etc.

Both opportunities could lead to paid positions.

The Clarkston Farmers Market: The Clarkston Farmers Market is putting together a "Street Team" of community members and volunteers to spread the word about the market. They'll meet on Friday, July 27, 5 p.m. at the Clarkston Community Center, 3701 College Ave. in Clarkston, and depart from there to several destinations around the area, including neighborhoods and apartment complexes.
