Help Needed: Georgia State Parks
Panola Mountain State Park is the closest that welcomes volunteers.
Volunteering at a Georgia State Park, historic site or golf course means helping to keep great resources in good shape on a daily basis and for special events.
A state park not too far from South DeKalb is Panola Mountain State Park, which has a sign-up sheet for volunteers at its visitors center. Park phone number: (770) 389-7801.

Saturday, August 20 - Clean up of Smith Creek at Unicoi State Park, recognizing Georgia’s Rivers Alive program. The cost is $5 for parking. 1-800-573-9659, ext.305.
Saturday, September 24 – As part of “Save Our Parks Day,” Friends of Amicalola Falls State Park will have a day of service projects on the park. Work such as weeding, mulching and picking up trash will take place. Call 706-265-1969.
