Help Needed: Atlanta Community Food Bank, FODAC

Volunteer tasks at organizations range from sorting cans to landscaping duties.

Want to be involved in positively affecting someone’s life? There are several opportunities to help organizations in Stone Mountain and throughout the metro Atlanta. Here are a few:

  • Main Street Stone Mountain needs volunteers for its free Movies on Main event Saturday night ("Megamind" is showing at dusk at the pavilion behind city hall): Selling popcorn, staffing the organization's tent, setting up and cleaning up.  Contact kcumbie@comcast.net if you can help.
  • Atlanta Community Food Bank needs volunteers to sort, inspect and pack donated food, beverages and health products in the Food Bank's Product Rescue Center. Volunteers 8-17 years old are welcome with adult supervision. This project is not open to court-ordered volunteers.  Click here for more information.
  • Athletes on the Rise needs eager volunteers with good attitudes to work Braves Concession stands. Volunteers, who must be at least 18 years old, have to go through training prior to working any event. Learn more about Athletes on the Rise here.
  • Friends of Disabled Adults & Children (FODAC) at4900 Lewis Road, Stone Mountain, 30083 needs volunteers to refurbish wheelchairs, help in its thrift store, perform housekeeping and landscaping tasks. Contact volunteer coordinator Dianne Ramsey, 770-491-9014, and learn more here.
