Update: Furry Friends and Main Street Need Volunteers
Got skills and time? Become a volunteer for local groups.
Do you have an affinity for helping four-legged, furry friends? Perhaps lending your time to Adopt a Greyhound or Atlanta Animal Rescue Friends is right for you. There are other volunteer opportunities in and around Stone Mountain, too:
• Main Street Stone Mountain is hosting the second annual Second Saturday in may Festival on May 14, 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. This year, the festival will have potters, a classic car show and bluegrass music. The organization really needs help: volunteers to staff the Main Street tent, beer cart and Kids Zone. Volunteers are needed for two-hour shifts starting at 10 a.m. The festival takes place on Main Street and ends with a street dance and fireworks. • Adopt a Greyhound Atlanta needs people for kennel cleaning, yard work, minor repair jobs and dog washing. For more information: 770-469-9533.

• The needs of Atlanta Animal Rescue Friends, or AARF, which has established a , range from setting up donation locations to transporting animals to grant writing. Voicemail: 678-318-1886.
• DeKalb County Board of Health has volunteer and internship opportunities, including helping in a clinic or office, producing health education materials and helping at a special events. To apply call: 404-294-3700.
