AARF could use the kindness of volunteers at its new Stone Mountain site
Thieves recently stole computer equipment and supplies
If you’re looking for a group that could really use some help in its time of need, look no further than Atlanta Animal Rescue Friends (AARF):
- Atlanta Animal Rescue Friends, recovering from a burglary at its new Stone Mountain location that was to open next month, will have a volunteer day on Sunday, May 15, 12-4 pm at 6570 James B. Rivers Drive, Stone Mountain, 30083. It is also accepting donations to replace the stolen items, and contributions can be mailed to the Stone Mountain address.
- Have a heart for helping others, like horses, and don’t mind driving a bit outside of Stone Mountain to give your time? Parkwood Farms Therapy Center, 2519 Parkwood Road, Snellville Ga 30039, is a multi-discipline therapy center that needs volunteers who are age 14 or older and “have a genuine interest in serving others,” according to its web site. Needs include horse handling, sidewalking, grooming and barn help, yoga instructing, grounds-keeping, among others. Volunteers also shouldn’t mind “getting a little dirty.” The center asks each volunteer to give a minimum of an hour. Click here to fill out the volunteer contact form.
- Refugee Family Services, 5561 Memorial Dr., Stone Mountain, 30083-3237, continues to need family literacy tutors, after school tutors/mentors, and one-on-one tutors/mentors, among other help. Contact Brittany VanValkenburgh, the Volunteer Coordinator AmeriCorps member, at (404)299-6217 x239 or email: rfsvolunteers@refugeefamilyservices.org
