Last Chance: World Basketball Association Tryout Camp This Weekend

Two-day camp takes place at Redan Recreation Center.

The World Basketball Association will have its Ninth Annual Professional Tryout Camp on Saturday, April 28 from 2-7 p.m. and on Sunday, April 29 from 9 a.m.-2p.m. at Redan Recreation Center, 1839 Phillips Rd., Lithonia.

During the camp, free agents can show off their skills in front of scouts and agents from the NBA, Mexico, a host of international leagues and all 7 teams of the WBA including the Atlanta Blaze, Conyers Court Kings, Gastonia Gamers, Gwinnett Majic, Mauldin Stars, Rome Gladiators, and the Anderson Upstate Heat, the WBA said in a press announcement.

Cost to register online is $175; the cost is $200 for walk-up registration.

Michael Glenn, Commissioner of the WBA, commentator for the Atlanta Hawks and former NBA star, will be the keynote speaker.

The WBA said during the camp, players can participate in the Basic Athletic Measurement (BAM) testing, used by the NBA. This measurement is the first athletic testing platform to drive consistency, reliability, and validity into global athletic performance measurements and ratings, the WBA said.

Registered athletes can also have the second day of game play televised live and recorded for distribution to the top recruiters in the world, the WBA said.Β 

The WBA said it has helped more than 400 players in getting paid athletic contracts.
