Stephenson vs. Southwest DeKalb on TV Friday

The two DeKalb County rivals are playing for the 10th time in their history.

The Stephenson vs. Southwest DeKalb high school football game is set for broadcast on GPB (Georgia Public Broadcasting) on Friday night at 8 p.m.
from Hallford Stadium in Clarkston.

The two DeKalb County rivals are playing for the 10th time in their history. Southwest DeKalb (1-3) leads the series 5-4. Stephenson (4-0) won last year's tilt 32-0.

This marks the first meeting of the two football programs without legendary Southwest DeKalb coach Buck Godfrey roaming the sidelines as Michael Tanks replaced the retired Hall of Fame coach this season.

Other games of note to be televised include Tucker vs. Stephenson at Hallford Stadium on on October 11 at 7:30 p.m. and Martin Luther King Jr. vs. Tucker at Hallford Stadium on Friday, November 1 at 7:30 p.m.

Tucker vs. Stephenson is set for Comcast Sports South (CSS) and King vs. Tucker is set for GPB.

In other notes, DeKalb County has a pair of teams playing tonight (Thursday). Redan (0-3) is hosting Banneker (0-2-1) in a make up game from last week. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. at Panthersville Stadium.

Druid Hills (2-1) travels to No. 4 ranked Lovejoy (3-1) in a Region 2-AAAAAA opener for both teams. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
