The amazing Mike Davis has been putting up big numbers for the undefeated Stephenson Jaguars this season, but he may be the first to tell you that he’s not the only reason the Jaguars are undefeated and ranked in the top 10.

Senior Pernell Whitehead has had an impact, too. Last week, he returned the second-half kickoff for a touchdown to start a Stephenson rally in a 34-14 win over Luella.

The week before, he was named the team’s offensive player of the week, as reported to DeKalb County athletics, after rushing for 116 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries.

Other top performers from the area:

Mike Davis, running back: Rushed for 165 yards, three touchdowns versus Luella, according to Georgia High School Football Daily.

T.J. Moon, running back: Rushed for 134 yards.

Dareon Herring, linebacker: Was named team’s defensive player of the week, as reported to DeKalb County athletics, for Week 5 after five tackles and three assists.

Markuss Eligwe, quarterback: Was named team’s offensive player of the week for Week 5, as reported to DeKalb County athletics, after passing for 45 yards and a touchdown and rushing for 151 yards and a TD.

Terrill Bloom, defensive back: Was named teams’ defensive player of the week for Week 5 after five solo tackles, two assists and an interception.

Monquavious Johnson, quarterback: Named team’s offensive player of the week for Week 5, as reported to DeKalb County athletics, after completing 19 of 22 passes for 215 yards and two touchdowns and rushing for 52 yards and a TD.

Nykal Lundy, strong safety: Team’s defensive player of the week for Week 5 with three solo tackles, two assists and one interception.
