Football Recap: Lithonia Beats Stone Mountain

The Chamblee Bulldogs had a 45-0 Region 6-AAAA victory over the Redan Raiders.

The Lithonia Bulldogs (2-3, 1-0) opened Region 6-AAAA play with a 22-18 victory over the Stone Mountain Pirates (2-3, 0-1) at Avondale Stadium.

Lithonia’s win put the Bulldogs in a tie for the Sub Region A lead with Marist and Chamblee who both won region openers over the weekend.

In other local action, Xzavier Shugars scored three touchdowns in the first half to lead the Chamblee Bulldogs to a 45-0 Region 6-AAAA victory over the Redan Raiders at Hallford Stadium on Friday.

Shugars had touchdown runs of one yard and 45 yards to expand a 3-0 Bulldog lead to 17-0 and then sent Chamblee (5-1) into halftime up 24-0 as he returned a punt 65 yards for a score.

Ja’Tavaian Johnson had a 63 yard run for a touchdown and James Ellis added a one-yard TD run to round out the scoring for the Bulldogs.
