Football Preview: Pirates, Panthers Building on Hard Fought Victories

The Pirates travel to Lakewood Stadium on Friday for an 8 p.m. kickoff against undefeated Washington.

Southwest DeKalb and Stone Mountain pulled out tough victories last weekend and are looking to use them as jump starts to the rest of the high school football season.

Southwest DeKalb, 1-2 overall and 1-1 in Region 6-AAAAA, held off the Lakeside Vikings for a 14-7 Region 6-AAAAA at Adams Stadium last weekend to give first year head coach Michael Tanks his first win as Southwest DeKalb.


The Panthers face a tough task in hosting Mays which pulled off a 36-28 win over then No. 4 ranked Martin Luther King Jr. Lions at Lakewood on Saturday.

Stone Mountain improved to 2-1 on the season with a thrilling 36-35 win over Wesleyan last Friday night. The Pirates travel to Lakewood Stadium on Friday for an 8 p.m. kickoff against undefeated Washington (3-0).

The Towers Titans go for their fourth victory this season as they travel to Lakewood Stadium in Atlanta on Saturday to take on a 1-2 Douglass team coming off a 26-14 win over McNair last weekend.

Towers has not won four games since their 7-4 playoff season in 2009 under Jonathan Sanks.
