2013 High School Valedictorians, Salutatorians in Stone Mountain and Lithonia

The DeKalb county school district announced on Tuesday the 2013 valedictorians and salutatorians at high schools in Stone Mountain and Lithonia, as well as their post-high school plans:

Arabia Mountain High School (magnet)

• Valedictorian: Ayomide Akin-David. Will attend Stanford University or Rice University, computer engineering major. Gates Millenium finalist; Zell Miller Scholarship.
• Salutatorians: Asier Senai Isayas and Tyrus Wheeler, Jr., both Georgia Tech-bound.

Arabia Mountain High School (resident)

• Valedictorian: Yadeni Alemayehu, Oxford at Emory University, pre-med/biology.
• Salutatorian: Megan McCall, University of Virginia, business major.

Lithonia High School

• Valedictorian: Stephen Bines, plans to attend North Caroloina Agricultural and Technical State University and major in music education.
• Salutatorian: Ashlee Guthridge, plans to attend University of Colorado Boulder. Planned major is pre-med; career, veterinarian.

Martin Luther King Jr.High School

• Valedictorian: Jonothon Smith, Auburn University. Plans to become an attorney with his own firm. Has been on the Principal's List, among other honors.
• Salutatorian: Ashley Wrushen, accepted to Georgia Tech. Goals: to become a an author and patented inventor. Has received the Yale Book Award and held leadership positions.

Miller Grove High School

• Valedictorian: Willie Moody, senior class president, DeKalb Youth Commission, among other recognition.
• Salutatorian: Deandra Francis, National Honor Society, FBLA, and more.

Redan High School

• Valedictorian: Jalissa Shealey, titles include honor society president, among others.
• Salutatorian: Kenyatta Wheeler, plans to attend Spelman College.

Stephenson High School

• Valedictorian: Brittany Burnett is headed to Cornell University, civil engineering, major.
• Salutatorian: Maiya Smith, University of Florida, computer engineering, major.

Stone Mountain High School

• Valedictorian: Cyrianne Keutcha. Keutcha is Georgia State University-bound and is a Georgia Certificate of Merit recipient.
• Salutatorian: Linh My Train will attend University of Georgia.
