Rosters Set for DeKalb All-Star Baseball Classics

Stone Mountain''s Yannick Williams is a pitcher for the North.

The 2012 DeKalb County Senior and Junior All-Star Baseball Classics are
now set with the announcing of the rosters for the four teams.

Sequoyah Middle School, Chamblee High School’s field, is playing host to
the two games this year with the Senior All-Star Classic set for
Wednesday, May 30 and the Junior All-Star Classic set for Thursday, May
31. Both games are set for a 5:30 p.m. first pitch.

The North Senior All-Stars lead the series 9-6 behind their current
five-game win streak that includes last year’s 5-2 victory at Druid Hills
Middle School.

Chamblee’’s Brian Ely is set to coach the 2012 North squad and is to be
assisted by Lakeside’s Bill Newsome.

Dunwoody catcher Jared Martin leads the offense for the North team as he
finished the season hitting .397 with county leading 4 homers, 11 doubles
and 26 RBI.

The top pitchers for the North include Stone Mountain’’s Yannick Williams
(4-6, 3.72 ERA) and Tucker’s Demarcus Taylor (4-5, 4.26 ERA) who was the
North MVP in the Junior All-Star Classic last year.

The defense is led by Chamblee outfielder David Coble who stole a homerun
from one batter and made a diving catch in the final inning to help
Chamblee earn a split in their playoff opening round series with Alexander.

The South Seniors are under the direction of Redan’’s Marvin Pruitt who
will be assisted by Columbia’s Steve Dennis.

Miller Grove centerfielder Sean Charleston heads up the hitting lineup for
the South with his .531 batting average (2nd in DeKalb) along with 23 RBI,
11 doubles and 6 triples.

The pitching staff is led by Lithonia’’s Rasean Fulmore who only allowed 34
runs in 58.3 innings this season and also batted .446.  The South will
also look to Cedar Grove’’s Denzel Washington (4-5, 4.53 ERA) to work on
the mound.

The North also leads the Junior All-Star series winning all three contests
for a 3-0 lead, including last year’s 11-5 victory.

Dunwoody’’s Chan English heads of the coaching staff for the North while
Tucker’s Bobby Gonzalez will assist.

Lakeside outfielder Sean Wilson is the leading hitter for the North after
finished the 2012 season with a .390 average at the plate including a
county tying 4 homeruns, 9 doubles and 26 RBI.

Chamblee pitcher Patrick Gaulden leads the North pitching staff after
setting a school record for wins with 10 (10-2) and DeKalb low earned run
average of 1.56 in 62 2/3 innings. He will team with Dunwoody’s Logan
Elliot who tied Gaulden for the ERA lead at 1.56 with a 4-1 record on the
season.

Miller Grove’’s Terrence Canty heads the South Juniors coaching staff and
Cedar Grove’s Lavato Byrd is to assist.

Arabia Mountain shortstop Alfred Francis heads up the South offense after
finished fourth in batting average at a .519 clip with 7 doubles, 3
triples and 20 RBI.

Columbia’’s Demetrius Jones was the top junior pitcher for the South this
season with a 4-1 record and 1.73 ERA in 36 1/3 innings on the mound.
Arabia Mountain’s Jordan Scott is also slated to see some action on the
mound after finishing 6-4 with a 2.70 ERA in 62 1/3 innings.

Both games are slated for nine innings. Admission is $5 for everyone.
