Redan, Chamblee, Miller Grove Enjoying Undefeated Weeks

Redan's record is 4-0 so far.

Chamblee, Redan and Miller Grove rumbled into the Region 6AAAA playoff
draw this week coming off impressive undefeated showings from last week.

Coach Brian Ely’s Chamblee Bulldogs secured the No. 2 regular season
finish in 6AAAA, knocking off Tucker (12-0) April 9, Douglass (forfeit)
April 11 and Mays (13-0) April 13 to go along with a 10-8 non-region
triumph over Druid Hills April 10 while finishing 9-2 in the league and
improving to 15-6-1 overall.

Coach Marvin Pruitt’s Redan Raiders also rolled to a perfect 4-0 record,
defeating Lakeside (12-10) April 9, Southwest DeKalb (3-1) April 11,
Carver (12-2) April 13 and Jonesboro (7-4) April 14 in moving to 9-2 in
the region and a county-best 16-5 overall for the year.

Coach Terrence Canty’s Miller Grove Wolverines, meanwhile, registered a
3-0 record last week, besting Mays (18-7) April 9, Marist (5-4) April 11
and Douglass (forfeit) April 13 to improve to 14-5 overall and 8-3 in
6AAAA.
        
INDIVIDUAL HIGHLIGHTS

Chamblee allowed only one hit in a 12-0 triumph over Tucker April 9, as
junior Patrick Gaulden (4 IP; 6 SO; 1 H; 1 BB) garnered the winning
decision and sophomore Andrew Henry (1 IP) handled the mound duties.

Sophomores Somto Egbuna (2-3; 3 RS; 3 RBI; 1 2B) and Jared McKay (2-2; 3
RBI; 2 RS; 1 SB) and senior Linden Weng (2-4; 4 RBI; 1 RS; 1 2B) collected
two hits each in pacing the Bulldog offense in the contest. Gaulden (4 IP;
1 H; 3 SO; 1 BB) later teamed with Weng (1 IP; 3 SO) for another
one-hitter on the mound in Chamblee's 13-0 victory over Mays April 13.

Senior Kyle Kimbrel (3-3; 4 RBI) and Gaulden (3-3; 3 RBI; 1 2B; 1 3B)
shined at the plate for the Bulldogs.

Sophomore William Belcher (2-4; 2 SB) and freshman Trent Nash (2-3; 1 RS)
paced Columbia's offense in an 11-2 triumph over Cedar Grove April 13.
Junior Demitrius Jones struck out three and allowed no earned runs over
five innings to garner the mound triumph for the Eagles in the contest.
