Input Needed for New Smoke Rise Elementary Design

DeKalb's School District has a prototype design for the development of the tear-down and re-build of seven elementary schools.

By Marsha Ashby

Because of the passing of SPLOST IV, Smoke Rise Elementary Charter School, along with six other schools, is going to be rebuilt.

There is one basic design for all seven schools with modifications for topography. The design is for a school with a capacity of 900 students and there are plans for adding onto the schools to make them for 1350 if needed. However, the design will be modified for Smoke Rise with a capacity of 600 students.

This is the link for the prototype design.

When reviewing it, you will see there are three levels of classrooms. The modification for Smoke Rise is that we will only have the bottom and main level.

The district has asked for community input so please feel free to comment. I will forward the comments to the district.Β
