Commissioner Stan Watson to Host a Small Business Forum

Focused on $1.345 Billion in Watershed Projects

Stan Watson, Super District 7 Commissioner, will host the second in a series of Small Business Forums on Monday, June 27, 2011 from 7:00P and 9:00P at the Lou Walker Senior Center, 2538 Panola Road, Lithonia, GA 30058.  The forum is designed to inform and prepare small businesses and community members of the upcoming opportunities and jobs that will be created as a result of the $1.345 Billion DeKalb County Watershed Management Capital Improvements Projects (CIP) that will take place over the next 5 years.

Commissioner Watson states, “DeKalb County must update our water and sewer system to be in
compliance with Federal and State regulations. It is imperative that we ensure that our communities are
protected and viable for generations to come.”  As a new Commissioner to DeKalb County and as a for mer Georgia House Representative for 13 years, Watson believes his purpose is to educate, inform, and promote opportunities to improve the quality of life for our neighboring communities and those who call DeKalbCounty home.

The speakers for this series include DeKalb County Director of Purchasing, Kelvin Walton, DeKalb County Public Works Director Ted Rhinehart and Melvin Everson, Director of the Governor's Office of Workforce Development.  There will also be opportunities for the attendees to make comments and ask questions.  There is no charge for this event.
