DeKalb Schools Baseball: Junior Varsity Championships Start Saturday

Nine DeKalb County junior varsity baseball teams open play at three sites
in the 2012 DeKalb County Junior Varsity Baseball Championships on
Saturday, April 14.

Regular season round-robin play determined the seeding as Dunwoody (8-0),
Columbia (7-1) and Redan (6-2) earned No. 1 seeds and host roles by
winning their respective divisions.

Dunwoody will host three games after winning the Red Division with a
perfect 8-0 record. White Division runner-up (6-2) and Blue
Division third place finisher Martin Luther King Jr. (3-4-1) join Dunwoody
in first round action. Dunwoody opens against Martin Luther King at 10
a.m. followed by Stephenson vs. Martin Luther King at 12:30 p.m. and
finishing up with Dunwoody vs. Stephenson at 3 p.m.

Blue regular season champion Columbia will host White Division third place
finisher Arabia Mountain (3-5) and Red runner-up Lakeside in the opening
round. Columbia takes on Arabia Mountain at 10 a.m. followed by Lakeside
vs. Arabia Mountain at 12:30 p.m. and Columbia vs. Lakeside at 3 p.m.

Redan, the White Division champ, plays host to Red Division third place
finisher Chamblee (4-4) and Blue runner-up Southwest DeKalb (6-2). Redan
opens up play against Chamblee at 10 a.m. followed by Southwest DeKalb vs.
Chamblee at 12:30 p.m. and vs. Southwest DeKalb at 3 p.m.

Dunwoody, a division runner-up in 2011, came away with the 2011 title
while finishing 10-2 overall after defeating their division champion
Lakeside 15-5 in the championship game.

The semifinals and finals are scheduled for April 21 at Druid Hills Middle
School (Druid Hills High School Field).

Saturday, April 14

At Dunwoody High School:

Game 1: Dunwoody (8-0) vs. Martin Luther King Jr. (3-4-1), 10 a.m.
Game2: Stephenson (6-2) vs. Martin Luther King Jr. (3-4-1), 12:30 p.m.
Game3: Dunwoody (8-0) vs. Stephenson (6-2), 3 p.m.

At Redan High School:

Game1: Redan vs. Chamblee at 10 a.m.
Game2: Southwest DeKalb vs. Chamblee at 12:30 p.m.
Game3: Redan vs. Southwest DeKalb at 3 p.m.

At Columbia High School:

Game1: Columbia vs. Arabia Mountain at 10 a.m.
Game2: Lakeside vs. Arabia Mountain at 12:30 p.m.
Game3: Columbia vs. Lakeside at 3 p.m.
