Standout Scholars: Stone Mountain Natives Among Recent Grads, Honor Society Inductees

Piedmont College, Reinhardt University, Mercer University announce local students' accolades.

Bright and talented Stone Mountain natives are making their mark at colleges and universities.

Here are several students who have earned degrees and received other honors and responsibilities this year:

Piedmont College

Piedmont College in Demorest, Ga., awarded degrees to 397 students in its December commencement ceremony. Several Stone Mountain students were along the graduates: 

Reinhardt University

Sigma Lambda is an honor society designed for student programmers that excel in scholarship and leadership within the student activities field.

Cromer was also inducted into Kappa Pi, a national college art honor society, in November.

  • Reinhardt sophomore Stephen Daffer, is the Vice President of Administration for the university's Student Government Association;
  • Graduate student Mary Randall, serves as the Circle K International and Extended Campus Senator representative.

Savannah College of Art and Design

The following Stone Mountain natives have been named to the dean's list at the Savannah College of Art and Design for fall quarter 2011:

Mercer University

These graduates got their honors in August and are also from Stone Mountain:

  • Letoya N. Booker, earned a Master of Arts in Teaching in early childhood education from the Tift College of Education.
  • Keith Mallett earned a Master of Business Administration in international business from the Eugene W. Stetson School of Business and Economics.
  • Robert H. Walker earned a Master of Business Administration in international business from the Eugene W. Stetson School of Business and Economics.
  • Denesya L. Riley earned a Master of Arts in Teaching in middle grades education from the Tift College of Education.
  • Natasha S. Scott earned a Master of Arts in Teaching in early childhood education from the Tift College of Education.
  • Gina S. Cox earned a Master of Education in early childhood education from the Tift College of Education.
  • Ticisa K. Jeffers, earned a Master of Arts in Teaching in middle grades education from the Tift College of Education.
  • Clae Kathryn White earned a Specialist in Education in teacher leadership from the Tift College of Education.
  • Shundra J. Wooten earned a Bachelor of Science in Education in early care and education from the Tift College of Education.
  • Jamesa R. Cowan earned a Master of Arts in Teaching in early childhood education from the Tift College of Education.
  • Sheila Rush Thompson earned a Master of Education in early childhood education from the Tift College of Education.
  • Dexter Dixon  earned a Master of Arts in Teaching in middle grades education from the Tift College of Education.
  • Susanna J. Smith earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing cum laude from the Georgia Baptist College of Nursing.
  • Farjana H. Azad earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Georgia Baptist College of Nursing.
  • April P. Wright earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Georgia Baptist College of Nursing.
  • Latrease G. Grant earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Georgia Baptist College of Nursing. 
  • Denise Ferris earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Georgia Baptist College of Nursing.
  • Kim-Cuc T. Tran earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Georgia Baptist College of Nursing. 
  • Nahome Haile earned a Master of Accountancy from the Eugene W. Stetson School of Business and Economics.
