Food Depot Moving Into Save Rite's Old Spot on Panola Road

The shopping center has been without a full grocery component for years.

A grocery store is coming back to the Salem Crossing Shopping Center: Food Depot is moving into Save Rite's old spot.

(Updated) - According to an article in Crossroads News, the supermarket will begin hiring after Christmas.

The shopping center has been without a full-fledged grocery component for several years. According to an article on Business Wire, in 2005 some 257 selected Winn-Dixie and Save Rite supermarkets began closing in several southern states, including Georgia.

In the same shopping center is Family Dollar, which is on a growth spurt. Publix is down the street at 3045 Panola Rd.

Thats great, that side of Lithonia needed a grocery store. Food Depot is a great place for meat, but they add 10% to your total at the register. Another grocery store is needed on Rockbridge Rd and Hwy 124 at the former Save Rite. With Publix being on Deshon and Rockbridge, I'm suprised Kroger hasn't eyed that area.

It's about time! This is great, we will not have to drive as far to get items we may have forgotten. I will continue to utilize the Dekalb Farmers Market, Publix and Krogers because each one offers something special that I like. I am pretty sure Food Depot will fit end and offer something special as well.
