Stonecrest City Alliance Presenting Case to DeKalb Delegation

Stonecrest is vying for cityhood, along with three other places in DeKalb County.

The DeKalb House and Senate delegation is hosting a public hearing at the Capitol Building in Atlanta this week for representatives from DeKalb's four separate cityhood movements, including Stonecrest, to state their cases and make presentations.

It will be held on Thursday, Jan. 9 in room 606 at the Coverdell Legislative Office Building, 18 Capitol Square, Atlanta. The meeting is open to the public and starts at 10 a.m. Call 404-656-0109 for more information.

Stonecrest, Tucker, Briarcliff and Lakeside are the four proposed cities that currently have bills in place before the state. Sen. Ronald Ramsey, D-Lithonia, dropped the placeholder bill for Stonecrest during last year's legislative session.

“The meeting will give those in DeKalb County a chance to hear from the proposed cities on their studies completed and learn about the economic impact on the area,” state Rep. Dar’shun N. Kendrick told the Rockdale Citizen.
