Stone Mountain City Election Qualifying Dates Set

Three council posts will be on November's ballot.

The qualifying dates for November's elections for the city of Stone Mountain will begin August 30 at 8:30 a.m. and end on Sept. 1 at 4:30 p.m.

Three city council seats will be on the ballot this year, posts 1, 2 and 3. Those seats are currently held by Richard Mailman, Cyril Mungal and Mayor Protem Chakira Johnson Sallee.

The city in May changed the way council members are elected; this year, for the first time, candidates must declare the post number for the seat they are seeking to fill. In previous elections, the three candidates with the most votes would fill the vacant seats.
