City manager Barry Amos said a decal would need to be on the carts, and fees would have to be set up for residents, who would pay lower than non-residents, for golf cart use.

Amos recommended fees of $25 a year for residents, $50 for non residents all year, and $10 for a one-time/temporary use not to exceed seven days. People would also need to have proper insurance on the vehicles, council member Susan Coletti said.

Just where the carts would be allowed to run was another point the council plans to clarify.

Council member Steve Higgins noted that the city's sidewalks are "kind of narrow" for golf carts.

"These sidewalks -- I don't see it," he said.

Peachtree City has 90 miles of pathway for pedestrians, people on bicycles and golf carts. Higgins said he could envision the carts on the park paths.
