Stone Mountain CID Gets $20,000 Grant

Special district wants to create 2,000 new jobs new jobs by the end of 2013.

The Stone Mountain Community Improvement District has received an $20,000 grant from The Development Authority of DeKalb County, the organization said.

The grant is aimed toward helping the CID meet its mission to create 2,000 new jobs by the end of next year, 2013.

The CID received an last February.

The CID said it will now get professional assistance and come up with an economic development plan for the area. The CID roughly runs from Hugh Howell to East Ponce de Leon and all side streets within that corridor.

"Our CID is keenly aware of the need to see at least 2,000 new jobs become available in this part of DeKalb County, and we are working to help meet that need," said Stone Mountain CID preisdent Emory Morsberger, in the recent announcement. "This economic development effort is focused on recreating our area as a destination for investment and redevelopment. The more businesses that we have filling our available spaces, the more employment opportunities will open where they are needed most."
